Not necessarily the one that made the most money or the highest percentage return, but where everything worked out like you’d want it to?

My favorite was US Cellular in 1999. USM wasn’t a rocket, but it had been moving steadily higher before I bought it and continued higher at about the same rate. I was able to move my fairly tight stop every week or so. As it approached a double it started moving faster, which was a mixed blessing for me because more volatility raises the odds of getting stopped out. I had a double on paper but then the stock spiked down and stopped me out. It went on to double again very fast but I never got back in, and then it crashed a few months before the general crash began. I’ve had a few other doubles and near-doubles but never one so quickly and smoothly.

I don’t play option. It’s just to complicate for me. That’s like trying to figure out where the market is head so, I am going to leave this one for the professional.

The basics on how to find a call option chain and understanding the details.

So if an option does not get to an exercise point, what happens?

Those who bet against the strike price ever being reached are called writers and for doing so they get paid by the options buyer. If the strike is not reached then they can keep what they get for writing the option or selling it to you. What they get for writing is called premium or price of the options which is price of optons times 100 which is one contract. You cannot buy less than 1 contract which is 100 options.

I was on my yahoo finance page, and an advertisement had caught my eye. See, I am fairly new to the stock market and investing in general. The book I intend to buy seems fairly reasonable, and honest, but I am new to this field, and basically ignorant of it. I need someone to please read this entire article and please tell me if it seems legitimate, or not. Thank you in advance for your help, and please give me a professional opinion. Thanks a lot.
I appologize so much for not leaving a link. The link is

I strongly suggest you spend a lot of time learning about options before trying to trade them.

You can start with some excellent free educational material at

http://www.cboe.com/LearnCenter/default.aspx

and

http://www.optionseducation.org/

but I do recommend you read at least one good book as well. Some good books include

Options as a Strategic Investment by Lawrence McMillan

and

Option Volatility & Pricing by Sheldon Natenberg

<<<Should I buy this book?>>>

NO! The advertisement pure crapola. Did you notice the disclaimer at the bottom of the page?

"Except where otherwise specifically stated, all trades are based on hypothetical or simulated trading. Hypothetical or simulated performance results have certain inherent limitations. Unlike an actual performance record, simulated results do not represent actual trading. Also, since the trades have not actually been executed, the results may have under-or-over-compensated for the impact, if any, of certain market factors, such as lack of liquidity. …"

His results are not real.

I am not a professional but I have traded options for more years than he has. He totally misrepresents many aspects of options trading. (He also makes some true statments that few would dispute.)

If you believe him when he says he can make 25% per month, thereby turning $5,000 into $1,000,000 in two years, consider this. At that rate he could turn that $5,000 into $200,000,000 in four years, $40,000,000,000 in six years and $8,000,000,000,000 in eight years. With eight trillion dollars he would be 100 times richer than anyone else in the world. However, after more than 10 years he has not yet made enough money to retire.
